Pion, designed by Ionna Vautrin, is one of Sancal’s most iconic table and side table families. Its timeless design and graphic character evoke a playful and recognizable universe, where form and color interact naturally. A distinct visual language that, over time, has established itself as a contemporary classic.
Inspired by the world of chess, Pion is conceived as a system of pieces that work together yet also function independently. Each element has its own personality and role within the ensemble, creating balanced and rhythmic compositions. Just like in a chess game, no two configurations are the same.

After graduating in 2002 from the Design School of Nantes, Ionna worked for internationally renowned companies. In 2011, she received the Grand Prize for Creation awarded by the City of Paris and founded her own studio, from which she has collaborated with publishers such as Industreal, Lexon, Wallpaper, Foscarini, Moustache, and Bosa. In a short time, Ionna has become a reliable and celebrated figure in French design.
