Summer is the perfect time to discover design from a different perspective, through film, museums, and exhibitions that celebrate creativity in all its forms. If you’re spending your summer in Spain, here are a few stops worth adding to your itinerary.
Watch La Llama.
We begin with an audiovisual piece celebrating Spanish creative talent. La Llama is part of Where Talent Ignites, the campaign promoted by Audiovisual from Spain (ICEX Spain Trade and Investment) to showcase the richness and diversity of Spain’s creative industries to the world.
Its protagonist, a heroine created by Jaime Hayon and accompanied by the music of Yerai Cortés, journeys through surreal landscapes, architectural landmarks, iconic designs, and other works that have shaped the history and present of Spanish design. Among them are two Sancal pieces: the Suricata desks, designed by Inma Bermúdez Studio, and the Planta lounge chair by Yonoh.

Visiting the Fourth Floor of Museo Reina Sofía.
If you’re spending time in Madrid this summer, it’s well worth heading up to the fourth floor of the Sabatini Building. There you’ll find the museum’s newly reimagined permanent collection exhibition, Contemporary Art: 1975–Present, offering a fresh perspective on the last fifty years of artistic creation in Spain.
Discovering the Best of Spanish Design.
Summer is also a great time to explore exhibitions. Two shows celebrating contemporary Spanish design feature the Suricata desk, designed by Inma Bermúdez Studio for Sancal.
The first is the ADCV Awards 2026 exhibition at Las Naves (Valencia), running from 8 July to 31 August.
Suricata will also be on display at the Delta Awards 2026 exhibition at Disseny Hub Barcelona, from 23 July to 6 September.
