Design, laughter, and some very friendly competition.
After a day filled with plans, renders, and material samples, it was time to swap the keyboard for the foosball table and the agenda for a ping-pong paddle. That’s how the most entertaining Duathlon of the Barcelona Design Week began, an afternoon where design was literally played out on the table.
Organised by RS Barcelona and Sancal, the event brought together 16 teams from architecture and interior design studios across the city. A true meeting point to share laughs, challenges, and plenty of camaraderie among peers.
From the very first serve, the atmosphere was pure enthusiasm: cheers, laughter, and a few improvised tactics to make it through to the next round. “No spinning allowed!” joked María before the tournament began. Both in ping-pong and foosball, the elimination rounds led up to the semifinals and finals, where excitement could be felt in every point.
On the foosball field, speed and strategy prevailed, crowning CARACOLES (Capella Garcia – Juli & Miquel) as the tournament champions.
On the ping-pong table, skill and coordination led CUBIRRUBIC (Cubiñá – Facundo, Laura, Sandra & Pau) to victory after a thrilling final that drew cheers from the crowd.
But beyond the results, the real prize was the atmosphere: an afternoon among friends, with bites, beers, and endless laughter, where players, substitutes, and supporters all found their moment to enjoy.
The BDW Duathlon proved that creativity and teamwork can also be trained outside the studio, gathered around a game table.
