A committed community
Wilson Associates was set to create and conceptualize the social areas and the bar in an ephemeral pop-up experience that sought the visitor’s impact during the past edition of Downtown Design 2019.
The “Just One” concept and project highlights the following mantra: while a single action is a step towards making a difference, many actions taken together result in a stronger and more unified future. So it has been conceived as a platform for dialogue and collaboration within the design community.
Isabel Pintado, regional managing director at Wilson Associates’ Dubai office explains that they didn’t want to create just a beautiful space since “the ‘Just One’ campaign opens up an enormous universe of possibilities. Whether it’s just one act of kindness or one donation, the concept puts our thoughts into perspective that all of us as individuals can make a difference together.”
To carry out the project, Wilson Associates team has applied this collaborative idea in the widest sense and they built it closely with different brands to furnish the different areas. Thus, they have counted with an impressive glass installation of Mirodec, a Bolon’s woven vinyl flooring with fading effect or Sancal’s products amongst others.
OFIS, our dealer in Dubai, proposed Sancal to be part of this ambitious space. For Marina Petrovic, divisional manager at this company “Sancal armchairs and lounge furniture pieces are bold in their design and fit perfectly with the overall “Just One” design concept.”
Tonella stools at the bar and Magnum chairs around a large conference table were placed facing each other to facilitate conversations between the most open groups. By contrast, the Mini Tortuga comfortable lounge chairs invited people to one-to-one meetings.
The selected fabrics in powdered pink shades, in addition to the warmth of their textures, provide a tenderness perception, as these hues invites to feel affection, love and protection.
