Nestled in the heart of Clerkenwell, London, Insidesource’s newly renovated showroom now features a Sancal x ByBorre pop-up, on display until the end of the year.
Curated collaboratively, the furniture selection pairs some of Sancal’s latest designs with iconic pieces, forming a versatile landscape that explores evolving ways of living, working, and sharing contemporary spaces.
More than a temporary exhibition, the space is conceived as a living and constantly evolving environment, with a programme of talks, gatherings, and activities taking place over the coming months. An opportunity to discover how Sancal’s furniture integrates and adapts to collaborative and ever-changing contexts.
As Insidesource explains, the collaboration was driven by the desire “to prove that a singular design story can still feel layered, dynamic, and inspiring.” To achieve this, they chose to work closely with one furniture partner, Sancal, alongside textile innovator ByBorre. The result is an immersive environment where fabrics, textures, colours, and materials interact naturally to create a richly layered and emotionally welcoming atmosphere.
This approach also reflects a broader transformation taking place within contemporary design. As Inside sSource points out, both the UK market and the wider international landscape are increasingly embracing interiors that feel bolder and more character-driven. “There’s a growing appetite for environments that challenge convention rather than simply ticking functional boxes.”
Materiality also plays a key role in shaping the showroom experience. Textures, finishes, and textiles create an atmosphere designed to evoke curiosity and warmth. In this sense, the collaboration with ByBorre introduces a particularly tactile dimension, further enriched by the wider textile selection from different weaving mills, adding depth and richness to the showroom’s material identity.
We took the opportunity to speak with the Insidesource team and learn more about their vision for new workplace environments, the importance of materiality, and how they understand the balance between functionality, inspiration, and wellbeing in contemporary design.
How do you define the balance between functionality, hospitality, and inspiration in a space like this?
“Our showroom functions as a coworking space for the team, a flexible meeting environment, a material library for the design community, and a venue for events. That combination reflects exactly what many clients are looking for today in their own workplaces: spaces that are functional, welcoming, and still capable of inspiring creativity.”
What does Sancal bring into the Insidesource space?
“Sancal brings personality. Their designs have character and humour, something refreshing in an industry that can occasionally take itself too seriously. Beyond the playfulness, there’s a real boldness in the way they approach colour, upholstery, and unexpected forms.”
What role does textile innovation play in contemporary interiors?
“Textile innovation sits at the intersection of aesthetics, sustainability, and functionality. Brands like ByBorre demonstrate that innovation does not have to come at the expense of beauty; on the contrary, it can make beauty even more meaningful.”
Are workplace environments becoming more residential?
“Absolutely. We increasingly hear phrases like ‘make it feel like a living room’ or ‘think boutique hotel rather than office reception’. People want spaces that feel comfortable, human, and welcoming, while still supporting productivity.”
