Cinta Arribas signs Sancal’s illustrated calendar for 2024

Simple strokes to recreate moments of tranquillity.

We are happy to unveil the artist in charge of Sancal’s illustrated calendar for 2024. During the next 12 months we will share with Cinta Arribas her optimistic way of understanding life.

The artist’s work captures with simplicity the essence of everyday moments. Each stroke on paper shows the tenderness of characters of exaggerated proportions that make of the small things a firm statement. “For this project I have been inspired by everyday situations that I find beautiful and full of intimacy,” Cinta says.

The artist’s spontaneous illustrations come to life together with Sancal’s furniture, creating situations that are as common unique. Solemn scenes that avoid superfluous elements. Having a cup of tea, playing Ping Pong, reading a book or melting into a warm embrace are great luxuries within everyone’s reach.

In addition to the illustrations, Cinta is the author of the typography with which we write each month. The strokes are casual and fresh like the intention of the drawings they accompany.

As per Estudio Sancal request, the illustrator has disregarded all colours, reinforcing the idea of simplicity that transcends on each page. “All the illustrations are done in India ink on paper, which allows me to work on the expressiveness of the line and synthesise. I wanted to focus on the narrative and not so much on colour or other elements”. This decision also reinforces the idea of a timeless product catalogue that goes beyond trends and colours, as they look good in any palette, including the most basic.

Sancal has been publishing illustrated calendars for 12 years now. A firm commitment to the promotion of talent. From the beginning, Esther and Elena have been committed to contemporary artists, mainly Spanish, in order to give visibility to an artistic discipline that until recently were almost anonymous. From our atelier we appreciate art as an experience and a source of inspiration to stimulate sensations and awaken the imagination. We also see it as an example of creative diversity in all its manifestations.
