A dialogue between architecture and design.
In collaboration with the architecture studio ABEZ and photographer Carla Step, Sancal has carried out a new photoshoot at Casa sobre Casa, a project that redefines the relationship between architecture and its surroundings.
Casa sobre Casa (House upon House) finds balance between urban life and nature, standing as a refuge suspended between the sky and the mountains. This project by ABEZ, conceived by Diego Abellán and Inma Jiménez, emerges as a “reconstruction from memory, leaving a void in the ground that breathes.”
The architecture of this home, of honest materials and Mediterranean solutions, creates a seamless visual connection between the interior and exterior, merging the building’s volumes with the natural landscape. The ground floor opens to the garden, inviting outdoor living, while the upper level houses the most private areas of the home, offering expansive views of the mountains.
In this setting of pure lines and raw textures, Sancal has itervened with a selection of pieces that add colour through contemporary design. The photo shoot, in collaboration with ABEZ and captured through the lens of Carla Step, highlights a dialogue between architecture and furniture.
Latest models such as the Vibe sofa and armchair and the Seta trolley coexist with iconic pieces from Sancal’s catalogue, including the Silver Wrinkled Link poufs, the sculptural Bold table, and bestsellers like the Pion table and the Silla40 chairs. Other additions include the Loop soft seating, the Duo Mini seating program with its new angle, and the Elle Mini lounge chair dressed in Maharam fabric, all set within a neutral-toned environment that enhances their vibrancy.
Casa sobre Casa not only reinterprets Mediterranean tradition but also projects it into the future, establishing a harmonious connection between architecture, nature, and design.
