Two weeks of design. Two cities. Different ways of looking. September took us first to London and then to Lisbon. Two weeks in which design stepped outside its usual context to meet other disciplines, materials, professionals and ways of working.
During London Design Festival, two London showrooms opened their doors to us from 12 to 20 September, each offering a different setting and a different way of presenting our collections.
At Trifle*, Sancal shared the space with Floor Story in a distinctly graphic and artistic setting, where rugs and furniture came together to create a colourful scene filled with texture and expressive forms. The proposal was complemented by a workshop open to the public, inviting visitors to design their own rug and experience the creative process first-hand.

At Insidesource, the starting point was different. Sancal’s upholstered furniture was paired with Byborre textiles to create a more restrained setting where material, colour and texture took centre stage. The space also hosted a conversation between professionals from different areas of design, exploring collaboration not as an end result, but as a tool capable of enriching the process and opening up new possibilities.

From London, we travelled to Lisbon Design Week, where we were invited to the screening of The Maximisation of Circumstance. The documentary, directed by Manu Toro in collaboration with Lucas Muñoz, follows the transformation of Sancal’s COLAB showroom. Reclaimed materials, traces of the architecture, found elements and unexpected circumstances become part of the project, building something new without erasing its history.
The documentary explores an approach to design rooted in reuse, repair and experimentation, while posing a simple but relevant question: what can happen when we design from what we already have?

Three settings, three proposals and three ways of approaching design, all sharing the same conviction: when we allow ourselves to change perspective, new possibilities begin to emerge.
