Madrid Design Festival presents one of the most vibrant exhibitions of the moment: Suricata Party, on view at McPherson Hall of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza (ILE) until 23 February.
This creative exploration makes Suricata Party a testament to how experimenting with materials and digital processes unlocks new possibilities in design.
The undisputed star of the exhibition is a pack of Suricatas—an all-in-one stool and table designed by Inma Bermúdez Studio in its first collaboration with Sancal. Its structure, based on simple geometric shapes, conveys energy and dynamism, reflecting the personality of a meerkat or “suricata” in Spanish, the charming animal that lends the product its name. With an endearing presence and exceptional functionality, Suricata transcends the educational environment to also fit into hospitality projects and other versatile spaces.
Inma Bermúdez and Moritz Krefter found inspiration in the vigilant stance and social nature of meerkats to develop a piece that balances solidity and expressiveness. “We were captivated by their balance and collaborative spirit, qualities that perfectly aligned with the style, typology, and concept of the project”, says Inma.
For the occasion, Estudio Sancal has developed thirteen exclusive graphic patterns that explore geometric compositions and color gradients, brought to life through Finsa’s innovative digital printing technology.
Although the official launch of Suricata will take place in April during the Salone del Mobile in Milan, visitors to Madrid Design Festival can get a first glimpse at a special edition.

Thanks to Finsa’s innovative digital printing technology, each piece becomes a canvas where design and material experimentation merge, pushing the boundaries of contemporary furniture. With a charming presence and exceptional functionality, Suricata goes beyond educational spaces, adapting seamlessly to hospitality projects and other versatile environments.
Additionally, on February 19, Inma Bermúdez, Ana Castro from Finsa, and Esther Castaño-López from Sancal will share their experience working on Suricata Party—a complete design process from initial concept to final product, including the development of customized materials through digital printing. Versatile materials and designs for changing scenarios talk will be moderated by Spanish journalist Alejandra Manzano.
