Pion, the collection of tables and stools designed by Ionna Vautrin, draws inspiration from the logic and a contemporary aesthetic of chess to create a system of pieces with a strong identity of their own. A classic within the Sancal catalogue, Pion is a game of forms, colours and materials. Each piece combines balanced proportions, sculptural character and functionality, suitable for both residential and contract spaces. Pion now updates its finishes, further expanding its customisation possibilities.
10 new wool and lacquer combinations for low stools.
Originally, the low stool was only available upholstered in leather, carefully selected to match the colour of the bases. It now incorporates two wool fabrics, an equally noble and durable material, both by the Danish brand Kvadrat.
Hallingdal 65 and Tonus 4 have been chosen for their richness of colour, tactile quality and timeless character. The result is a series of nine pieces in which fabric and lacquered base are combined to once again create playful monochrome variants, joining the four classic leather versions.
These combinations range from the most subtle and elegant to the most vibrant and luminous, allowing these small stools to dialogue naturally with any project, space or context as additional seating.
While Tonus 4 is an update of the classic fabric designed by Nina Koppel unfolding a palette of intense, luminous shades that bring life and personality to each project, Hallingdal 65, designed by Nanna Ditzel in 1965, blends wool and viscose to offer a warm texture that invites touch.

Meanwhile, Pion tables and occasional tables take on a new dimension for use in high-traffic environments with the introduction of of a new tabletop material: HPL Fenix, an innovative surface that combines resistance and sensorial appeal without compromising elegance.
At first glance, its matt surface stands out for its softness and discretion. To the touch, its silky feel reveals unexpected quality: it resists fingerprints. Even more surprising, minor scratches can be thermally repaired, ensuring easier maintenance and longer-lasting surfaces.
The colour selection embraces a trending shade such as Rosso Jaipur, paired with chestnut lacquered bases, alongside two more sober and easily combinable tones: Grigio Londra, with quartz grey bases, and Bianco Male, with cream-coloured bases.
