Suricata in Japan.
The Inma Bermúdez Studio traveled to Tokyo to present its latest design, Suricata. The event took place in a warm yet professional atmosphere, where architects, interior designers, and design enthusiasts had the chance to discover firsthand the creative process behind the piece, as well as its potential applications in different contexts. Inma also introduced her Follow Me lamp for Marset, another of the Spanish designer’s acclaimed creations.
Suricata combines functionality, versatility, and aesthetic sensitivity in a piece inspired by the Meerkats, the small animals that give it its name, adopting their upright and attentive posture.
Together with its lightness, this quality allows the creation of both individual configurations and group compositions, encouraging interaction and other collective dynamics in spaces such as classrooms or collaborative offices. At the same time, a whole “pack” of cheerful Suricatas also becomes an original and versatile option for hospitality projects, from restaurants to cafés.
The design of Suricata reflects the studio’s philosophy: to create pieces that interact with the space and its users, that are useful, attractive, and capable of adapting to different needs and contexts. The presentation in Tokyo was also an opportunity to show how Spanish design connects with international audiences, opening new ways of thinking about and experiencing everyday objects.
