How have simple strokes on a white paper transformed into such a multifaceted product?
Body is not just another chair, it’s a statement of style and functionality. Designed by Sylvain Willenz, it is inspired by the human silhouette as it mimics the contours of the back and shoulders. “I wanted to create a chair with a certain character and personality. A friendly and welcoming chair”.
Body’s design is characterized by clean and simple lines, reminiscent of drawings on paper and reflecting a unique and recognizable aesthetic. “I designed the shape of Body with a very soft and subtle contour. I like simple and soft shapes. I wanted the lines of the chair to be sophisticated enough to look like a normal and functional chair, but different enough to have its own identity”.
But beyond its form, this chair represents a wide seating program. Its range of bases, colours, finishes, and textiles allows it to be adapted to various needs and environments.
“If one wants a very colourful, pop and fresh chair for a vibrant environment, it’s possible. And if one wants a more elegant and discreet chair, it’s also possible. The possibilities are endless. Body can be fun or serious, elegant or playful. It’s a bit like opening the wardrobe and choosing what clothes to wear depending on your mood,” says Sylvain.
Body’s versatility reaches a new level with the introduction of a base with a sled leg, designed especially for auditoriums and public spaces where seating configuration is crucial. This base, with its lacquered metal structure, allows easy connection between chairs to ensure orderly rows and facilitate storage when not in use.
Additionally, the incorporation of practical features, such as a small foldable writing tablet in plywood and the possibility of stacking and transporting the chairs with a specific cart, enhance its functionality and facilitate its management in dynamic environments.
