A summer pause.

Even the toughest can be tender.

The scene couldn’t be more refreshing: a giant melon lounges peacefully on a Core sofa, surrounded by green leaves and yellow flowers. With her playful, naïve style, Silvia Tack’s illustration invites us to slow down and enjoy the summer vibe. Because even the most solid, the most robust, can have a soft side too.

That contrast between strength and softness perfectly defines the character of Core by Note (design studio). Designed as if carved from a single block of matter, its presence is commanding. The defined lines, inspired by classical shapes, convey stability and elegance. But all it takes is a sit to discover its gentler side: a soft seat and carefully padded backrest that adds warmth and comfort.

A sofa that balances firmness and delicacy, substance and space. Available in versions of up to seven seats, it’s ideal for large communal areas, from lobbies to waiting rooms or breakout areas. Its aesthetic versatility also allows you to play with neutral fabrics to highlight its silhouette or go bold with vibrant, daring textures to let it shine.

Like summer itself, Core is an invitation to unwind in style. And if you do it with a cold slice of melon, even better.

Melon with Iberian Ham

This month, we’re flipping the usual script. Instead of receiving a recipe from the designer, it’s us, Sancal, who share a Spanish classic to our Swedish friends at Note Design Studio. Fresh, simple, and full of unexpected flavor, this dish is the perfect match for Silvia Tack’s summer illustration: melon with iberian ham!

A straightforward yet delicious idea, ideal for the hot days of the Mediterranean summer.

Ingredientes

  • 1 ripe melon: Piel de Sapo (Santa Claus) or Cantaloupe.
  • 100-150 g of Iberian ham.
  • Fresh mint or basil leaves (optional, for garnish).
  • A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil (optional).
  • Freshly ground black pepper (optional).

Preparation

1.Cut the melon in half, remove the seeds, and slice into wedges or cubes, depending on your preferred presentation.

2. Arrange the melon on a large platter and scatter the ham over the top.

3. Garnish with a few fresh mint or basil leaves for an aromatic, refreshing touch.

4. Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper, if desired.

You can also skewer the melon and ham to serve them as tasty summer bites!
Serve well chilled. Perfect as a starter or to share at a relaxed summer meal.
